Class: 5 - Lesson: 8 Presentation Advanced(Fontwork Gallery & Others)

Purpose: To learn about OpenOffice Presentation, to create presentations, and to improve custom animation skills such as Exit, Motion Path, Timer and Trigger.

No. of Classes

One or two classes (teacher's decision).

Material Required

OpenOffice, birds pictures.

Prior Knowledge

Students should know:

  • Basics of Presentation.
  • The text formatting tool.
  • How to insert a picture.
  • Exercise

    Exercise 1



    1. Create a presentation of birds' names with pictures, using English and Tamil Bamini.

    ⟹Type the names of the birds.

    ⟹Use the Fontwork Gallery to improve the appearance of the text.

    ⟹Insert pictures into the presentation.

    ⟹Apply custom animation to the name and the picture.

    ⟹Apply slide transitions and sounds.

    1. How do you use interaction and custom animation (advanced level) in your presentation in different ways?

    Exercise 3



    1. How do you insert a hyperlink in a document?

    ⟹Use the hyperlink and interaction options for the presentation created in Exercise 1.

  • Teacher Instructions
    1. Create a 'Birds' folder on your PC and place images of a few birds in this folder, to make them available to the students while doing the exercise.
    2. Even if it takes time, make the students type the text themselves.
    3. The presentation can be in English or in Tamil.
    4. While teaching, use the terms "Fontwork Gallery", "Properties", "Master pages", "Custom animation", "Slide transition", "hyperlink" and "interaction", etc., so that students become familiar with them.
